The spark plug of a car is actually a very small part. Its main function is to introduce a strong current into the cylinder and then produce spark ignition. If there is a problem with the spark plug, it will lead to insufficient vehicle power, difficulty in ignition, and affect the use of the vehicle. Some car owners will say, if this is the case, can I change a better platinum spark plug to solve the problem? Is the quality of the spark plug related to the fuel consumption of the vehicle?
Spark plugs are generally classified according to the material of the electrode. Ordinary spark plugs are made of nickel-chromium alloy. Better spark plug electrodes are made of more precious metals such as platinum and iridium. As for the difference between this ordinary spark plug and platinum and iridium spark plugs, in fact, the use is the same, the only difference is the replacement cycle. Spark plugs are made of precious metals because they have to withstand high-current electric shocks. The better the metal material, the more stable and durable, the longer the replacement period, nothing more.
For the replacement period of spark plugs, the recommended replacement period for ordinary spark plugs is about 20,000 kilometers, the replacement period for platinum spark plugs is about 60,000 kilometers, and the replacement period for iridium spark plugs can reach 80,000 to 100,000 kilometers. If the vehicle does not replace the spark plug according to this cycle, the spark plug may wear and oxidize, which affects the ignition and normal use of the vehicle. Therefore, the difference between different spark plugs is only the length of use, and has nothing to do with the fuel consumption of the vehicle itself.
In fact, when we choose spark plugs, we should not only pay attention to the material, but more importantly, choose the calorific value that matches the engine. Spark plugs that do not match the calorific value will also affect the ignition and use of the vehicle, no matter how good or expensive the material is, it is the same. Therefore, the choice of spark plugs is not necessarily the most expensive, but the most suitable. As long as it is a spark plug that meets the engine's use, no matter what kind of material, it does not exceed the upper limit of the number of kilometers used, and it will not affect fuel consumption. Owners can rest assured.
